What we want to deliver to society through this brand

The name "THE TERROIR" embodies our unwavering determination to pursue and express a form of terroir that is truly one-of-a-kind
. We aim to be a brand that visualizes, through the color and fluidity of indigo, the terroir born from the intersection of various conditions—soil, water, air, history, culture, and people, as well as the roles of both chance and necessity.

What we wish to bring to society through this brand resides within our three "creating color" processes.

1. Creating color from the soil — The resolve to claim it as "our color"

In today's efficiency-driven society, we have dared to choose the most labor-intensive path.

・We manage integrated production, from cultivating indigo and making *sukumo* (dye base) to the final dyeing process.
・We strictly employ the traditional Japanese technique of "natural lye fermentation dyeing".
・To proudly assert that these are indeed our own colors, we dedicate ourselves to the soil daily.
・By handling every step ourselves, we build the physical foundation of the brand and guarantee absolute quality and accountability.

2. Creating color from the climate — Outlining the identity of the land

It is not just the indigo plant that we are engaging with.

・Each land possesses a unique personality nurtured by the intersection of climate, culture, and human activity.
・We interpret this climate, focusing on identities that are fading and cultures that have been passed down.
・By layering time through our indigo, we give shape to the colors unique to each land.

We do not simply dye objects; our goal is to reveal and visualize the identity that lies in the background.

3. Creating color into form — "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form," the value that continues to fluctuate

"Form is emptiness, emptiness is form." All phenomena are a collection of causes and conditions; they have no substance and are constantly changing.

・The phenomenon of "color" (shiki) is born from the layering of nature, history, and human activity, and it fluctuates daily.
・We gather up the fluctuations of color and sensation that appear through indigo dyeing, nurturing them into "forms" that breathe within daily life.
・Products are completed through use, creating new value as they evolve throughout the passage of time.

What we bring to society

What we bring to society through THE TERROIR is the integration of "indigo" into diverse contexts, such as collaboration with all kinds of materials, architecture, spaces, and art. It is about giving true color to that which had none, and implementing a society where essential "color" breathes within our daily lives.

The indigo we create gives shape to the colors of each land, transforming the value of perpetual change into color.
