About Us

"THE TERROIR"

We create colors.

The soil, water, and air of each region, and the human endeavors that have woven its history and culture.
We visualize the "terroir" that has emerged from the overlapping of various conditions, both accidental and inevitable,
through the hues and fluctuations of indigo.

Within the broad concept of "terroir,"
the form of terroir that we pursue and express
is unique, and we embed "THE" in its name
to signify our intention to embody such a state and existence.

We create color.

The soil, water, and air of each region, interwoven with the human endeavors that have woven its history and culture.
Terroir is born from the overlapping of chance and necessity, a culmination of various intersecting conditions.
We visualize this terroir through the rich hues and fluctuations of indigo.

Within the broad concept of "terroir," we embrace the word "THE" to express that the terroir we pursue and embody is truly one of a kind.
It represents our unwavering will to achieve this unique existence.

Indigo

From indigo cultivation to sukumo (indigo dye) production and indigo dyeing, we handle the entire process in-house.
We use "natural lye fermentation indigo dyeing," a traditional technique passed down in Japan for centuries.
To ensure we can confidently call the colors our own,
we are meticulous from the soil preparation stage, painstakingly creating our colors every day.

"The Essence of the Land and its People"

Things you can see by paying attention to the culture and individuality that thrive in the local climate.
Human endeavors, inherited culture.
We will layer time with our colors and create new colors, for the essence that is being lost.

Shiki

"Form is no other than emptiness, emptiness no other than form."
Nature, history, culture, people.
We will shape the contours of the "form" that emerges from the superposition of various conditions through "color," giving form to ever-fluctuating changes.
