How to Care —— Care instructions to ensure lasting use

Thank you very much for purchasing a product from THE TERROIR.

Our indigo dyeing, practiced through the "natural lye fermentation" method, is not truly complete the moment it reaches you. It is through the passage of time in your hands, constant use, and repeated washing that it eventually matures into its original, clear, and beautiful blue.

We would like to provide you with some care instructions to help you enjoy your product for a long time to come.

■ Characteristics of Indigo

Because every piece is hand-dyed, the color, pattern, and texture will vary from one item to the next. Please enjoy its one-of-a-kind character. While we perform as much lye removal and natural color-fixing as possible after dyeing, you may notice a brownish-yellow pigment (lye components) during washing. This is unique to natural indigo; as you wash the item and the lye is gradually removed, the original clear indigo blue will become more vibrant.

■ Washing and Choosing Detergent

To maintain the indigo hue, please use a "neutral detergent" that does not contain fluorescent whitening agents or bleach.
・Initial Care: For the first two or three washes, we recommend "gentle hand washing" in lukewarm water (about 40°C) with an appropriate amount of neutral detergent.
・Care for Decorative Items: For interior items such as tapestries and noren curtains, we also recommend hand washing in warm water once every six months to a year to remove any lye that has accumulated in the fabric.

■ Precautions When Wearing

Although we take every possible measure to fix the color, strong friction or wearing the item while damp from rain or sweat may cause color transfer to light-colored clothing or bags. Please exercise sufficient caution when wearing.

■ Storage and Maintenance

Lye components remaining in the indigo can react to UV rays from sunlight, causing discoloration (such as yellowing). When storing, please avoid direct sunlight and keep the item in a dark place.

We hope you enjoy the daily changes and that this piece becomes a long-lasting companion.
