THE TERROIR

〈THE TERROIR〉×〈DENTO〉/ Stationery Box
Pickup currently unavailable
A document box co-branded with DENTO.
It is made from chestnut wood sourced from Hiroshima Prefecture and dyed with indigo.
The tannins in the hard and durable chestnut wood react with the indigo, resulting in a distinctive indigo color with low saturation and a subdued tone.
Since the Edo period, document boxes have been established as containers for letters and important documents, and in modern times, they can also be used to store stationery, accessories, and more.
The woodworking for this product was done by "DENTO."
The beautiful document box is finished with detailed techniques such as "Chigiri" (butterfly joints) and "Tomekiri" (mitered corners), cultivated since their founding.

DENTO was founded as a manufacturer of picture frames, folding screens, and tea ceremony utensils, and began manufacturing furniture in 2012. We apply the techniques cultivated through frame production to furniture frames and interiors, creating products that enhance daily life.

To strengthen the document box, grooves are cut into the corner joints and "chigiri" are embedded. These not only enhance durability as reinforcement but also serve as a design accent due to their wooden construction. The box is beautifully finished, utilizing framing techniques cultivated since our founding.

The frame-like lid is finished using the "miter joint" technique, where four pieces of material cut at a 45-degree angle are joined together. This meticulous attention to detail, down to the millimeter, is reflected in the beautiful finish.
