In Japan, the term "ai shijuhasshoku" (48 shades of indigo) has been used since ancient times.
For this pair of socks, indigo-dyed yarn was separated into 9 shades and knitted together with white slub yarn, which has irregular knots, to create a richly expressive sock that highlights the indigo even more.
These low-gauge socks, slowly knitted on old-fashioned knitting machines in Koryo Town, Nara Prefecture—the largest producer of socks in Japan—are plump and soft, with a thick fabric that is stretchy and breathable, making them suitable for wear in any season.

Responsible color creation through integrated production
Indigo dyeing begins with agriculture.
We cultivate the soil, create dyes, and dye the fabrics ourselves, consistently and carefully, so that the unique characteristics of each region's natural environment are reflected in our colors.

Adorn your feet with nine shades of indigo.
Nine different shades of indigo are meticulously dyed and luxuriously knitted into a single pair. Slub yarn with irregular knots is also knitted in to create a three-dimensional effect. The organic expression unique to hand-dyed yarn, which cannot be achieved with a single color, is its distinctive feature.

Collaboration in Nara, a Sock-Producing Region
